I get paid $30/hr to literally just stand in line.

I live in a pretty big city where everyone just wants to be the first in line for everything. Secret sneaker releases, bakery openings, sample sales, and even the DMV

People with money love their time more than they love money and I started listing on TaskRabbit and other Facebook groups for "Line Sitting Services".

I charge $30 an hour to wait in line with folding chairs, my iPad, and headphones for people who don't have the time. The lines usually last 2 hrs at minimum. When I get to the front, I text my customers and they come and take my spot. I always Venmo them when I arrive.

This is by far the easiest money I've ever made. Last week I waited in line for 3 hours for a sample sale of cookies that were limited to just 30 people.

hubbyniodari Wow why do people who pay needs to hire someone? But it does look good to be side hustle!

forestinity You have a very smart side hustle. But do any of the other people in line protest when the person paying you shows up and takes the spot you've been holding for them? What are the unwritten rules about this?

A long line outside of a big luxury store
I once waited in line with my kids for a ride at a smallish amusement park, and when my eldest, who was only around 12, joined us late after having been stuck in line at the toilets, people complained and my kid got kicked out of the line by security. I thought that was so mean, as they were part

of our group and were joining us on the same ride-- they would have fit un our car, and no strangers wanted to join us. What do you think of that?

Gold-Term-9773 I had a friend pay a college student $250 to wait in line at the DMV for her. Her time was worth so much more and college kid said heck yeah.

Average_and_Joe Have people behind you ever gotten mad your customer gets to cut everyone? Genuine question

ResidentFlight359 Oh yes I used a line sitter when Lin Manuel Miranda was singing in Hamilton on Broadway

Restinpeaceofficer I used to resell sneakers, and this is a great idea. Resellers are always looking for people to get in line so they can get more than 1 pair for limited releases. Sometimes they end up paying a homeless person to stand in line. We call them "proxies"

Character-Chicken-62 I did this years ago for an iPhone! They offered to buy me one too if I waited in line and texted them when I was close to the entrance. I had just gotten a new phone, so I asked for the cash value instead. It was for a family I had babysat for before. Worth it
